Rudy Eugene was Not a "Zombie" or "Cannibal"

Updated 3/12/2013

Six year veteran NYPD
Police Officer Gilberto Valle
According a criminal complaint the FBI filed, NYPD Officer Gilberto Valle likes hot women, trussed, slow cooked and served.

"The evidence against the officer, a six-year veteran of the New York Police Department, consists of e-mails and instant messages in which he was “discussing plans to kidnap, rape, torture, kill, cook and eat body parts of a number of women,” according to the complaint against the officer, Gilberto Valle. The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested him on Wednesday in Queens."

Gilberto Valle's story illustrates how a psychotic criminal behaves. It is not a spontaneous act of passion, rage and hate, but well-planned revolting sadistic mentally unstable diabolical misogynist sick and monstrous.

Yovanka Bryant
Locking lips: Yovanka Bryant produced this photo of her boyfriend of four months, Rudy Eugene, to prove that he was not a violent man
Valle had fantasies where he literally ate women, Rudy Eugene dated hot women, preferring them alive and unskewered. One girlfriend described Eugene as "a sweet loving gentleman" and a hard-working man."

The other girlfriend Yovanka Bryant said at a press conference held by her lawyer Gloria Allred, that Eugene studied the bible and carried it around. She felt "safe" with him and trusted him around her son. Eugene's mother stated that Eugene could not have possibly been in his right mind, "they" must have "injected" him with something.

Questions and facts to ponder about the uncharacteristic and brutal way Mr. Eugene attacked poor homeless Mr. Poppo:
  1. The autopsy found there was no human flesh in Rudy Eugene's stomach.
  2. Yovanka Bryant
Rudy Eugene's girlfriend, Yovanka Bryant speaks out: "Rudy was a family man."
  3. What sparked his violent behavior? No one knows, but it must have been powerful. It wasn't the marijuana found in his system. However, the fact is: pills have the ability to effect people without going through the digestive process. Under the tongue for instance is one avenue where pills can be absorbed. That's why vitamins, heart medications and other medications are taken sublingually.
  4. Admittedly, the attack was brutal and unprovoked, but even before any investigation was launched, news media reported police statements speculating that Eugene was possibly on bath salts — helping to not only poison public opinion, but to predispose the outcome of any in-dept investigation.
  5. Of course, any investigation would have been facilitated if the man was Tased, rather than shot to death on the spot.
  6. The news media used prejudicial terms like "Causeway Cannibal" and "Miami Zombie" to describe the attack -- this is not totally accurate.
  7. Eugene's girlfriends considered him to be a decent man, who treated them well.
  8. Although, Eugene had one minor arrest for a domestic violence incident involving his mother,  he had no felony convictions. His mother considered the attack on Mr. Poppo an uncharacteristic aberration. He was a fine man," stepdad Melimon Charles told Miami New Times.
  9. rudy eugene's car
Rudy Eugene's car with the Haitian flag
    emblazoned on the hood.
  10. Eugene broadcast that he was of Haitian decent because his car was emblazoned with a Haitian flag. It's possible his presumed ancestry and the possibility that he was passed out in his car after a break down or something, might have put a target on his back.
  11. It's clear that his immigrant family is from Haiti, but maybe if people knew that Rudy Eugene was an American* who was born February 4, 1981 at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital they wouldn't have been so quick to add this "Zombie" or "cannibal" attack label on him? This "Zombie" myth has been linked to Haiti through Hollywood movies and has very often been proven to be a scandalous lie (hint: The Lancet 1997 study diagnosed three medical conditions, but found no "Zombies" in Haiti). The "Zombie" myth has its uses; for some Haitians who perpetuate it, it probably gives them a feeling of empowerment. The negative repercussions are when the powers that be use this colonial narrative to continue to marginalize Haitians as irreligious, violent and criminal. Haitians are decent, hard-working, often very religious people.
  12. Finally, not to be a conspiracy theorist, but why hasn't the public been told what those pills were? It doesn't take this long to determine the chemical composition of a pill does it? The attack was May 26, 2012, and the last medical report was released on Jun 27, 2012. The whole incident is very mysterious. Why the secrecy? Is it possible that Rudy Eugene, as his mother alleges, was a victim too?
Speaking of people being injected with mysterious drugs that alter their behavior... here's some food for thought: Government employed scientists, pharmaceutical company scientists, illicit drug dealers and other "mad scientists" are always busy formulating drugs, vaccines and "therapies" that have "unintended consequences."

zombie soldier's brain
DARPA's Zombie Soldier brain control experiments.
It's interesting to note that the Pentagon's super secret scientific "mad scientists," the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA is paying Texas A&M University US$9 million to develop something that will produce what Wired.com calls "Hibernating Soldiers" -- guess someone thought it best not to call them Zombies -- has negative connotations that might rankle the ranks.

Evidently, no one is forthcoming with that much coveted "secret" formula. Such a formula would probably serve another purpose; maybe for space travel if it suspended the evolutionary clock. The ability to produce a powerful psychoactive drug that reportedly can make a person a "Zombie" though, is pure Haitian folklore. Presumably, if such a formula existed, DARPA could have saved some or all of the $9 million they are spending — or not.

Aside from the seemingly rampant interest in Zombies in pop-culture, movies and TV, it's been reported that an international group of scientists are studying an ant in the Amazon that they're calling a "Zombie Ant."

Back to the Hollywood version of a brain-eating "Zombie." It's all hype and no substance in reality.  Zombies, if you understand their meaning, are brain dead cadavers who are programmed to respond to directives from their masters. The fact that in American pop culture and in the news, a "Zombie" is associated with a violent "attack," conclusively proves that American's fears about things they haven't really even bothered to find out about, specifically relating to Haitian culture, have very little basis in reality. Drone would be a better term to use — something or someone programed to attack. Let's try that on for size: "Miami Drone" or "Causeway Drone." There, that's better.

Haiti: The Streets Come Alive

The pace of protest in Haiti is accelerating, with demonstrations in every large city and town. Haitians demand jobs and government services, and the departure of United Nations occupation forces. “Washington’s goal is to keep Haitians desperately poor, so that they will take any job, at any wage.”

Haiti: The Streets Come Alive
A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford
The liberation of Haiti does not depend on the United Nations, but on the Haitian people.”

The people of Haiti are in motion, and the U.S.-installed government is responding with tear gas and bullets. Demonstrations have erupted across the country, denouncing the regime of “Sweet Mickey” Martelly for corruption, demanding jobs at livable wages and the basic services that states are supposed to provide, and calling for an end to the eight-year occupation of the country by the United Nations.

UN soldiers took over from U.S. Marines after Washington’s coup against the democratically elected president, Jean Bertrand Aristide, in 2004. Since then, Aristide’s party has been effectively banned. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton holds no public office in his own country, but he rules like a viceroy as the UN’s Special Envoy to Haiti. The country has been reduced to a kind of protectorate of the UN – which, for all practical purposes, translates as a colony of the United States.

Because Aristide’s Lavalas party was excluded from the voting, most Haitians did not even go to the polls in April of last year, allowing “Sweet Mickey” Martelly to win the presidency with the support of only a small fraction of the Haitian population. That means politics in Haiti is mainly the politics of the street. And the streets of virtually every large Haitian city and town have been alive with demonstrations in the past few weeks. Teachers in Port-Au-Prince demanded a living wage equivalent to $1,200 a year. Slum dwellers in Cite Soleil protested deplorable conditions. In Fort Liberte, residents demanded a shipping facility. More protests are planned in Cap-Haitien and the capital city, this week.
The whole country is standing up.”
Haitians and their supporters demonstrated last week at the United Nations, in New York, asking the UN Security Council to pull its troops out of their country. Instead, the Council voted to extend the so-called peacekeeping mission for another year, although the force’s size will be reduced. One of those that met with UN peacekeeping officials was Haitian Senator Jean Charles Moise. At a meeting in a Haitian neighborhood of Brooklyn, Moise said he understood “the game that is being played” at the UN, but will continue to insist that the foreign soldiers be withdrawn, that security be turned over to an enlarged Haitian police force, and that reparations be paid to the families of the 5,000 Haitians that have died from cholera introduced into the country by UN troops.

Senator Moise is known for riding a white horse at anti-Martelly demonstrations. He says the liberation of Haiti does not depend on the United Nations, but on the Haitian people. “The whole country is standing up,” he said, “so I had to come into the street, with the people. You have to be with the people when they are in motion.” Then the senator rushed to the airport to rejoin the protests.

Bill Clinton and the multinational corporations he represents have other plans for Haiti. Clinton says Haiti’s greatest advantage is its low wages, to better attract foreign capital. In other words, Washington’s goal is to keep Haitians desperately poor, so that they will take any job, at any wage. But Haitians are determined to win back their national sovereignty, and set the terms of their own development.

How About: Hilary Clinton Is Responsible for Global Insecurity?

In the lead up to the presidential debate tonight, Hillary Clinton has taken one for the team. Clinton asserts she's to blame for a lack of security that facilitated the Benghazi 9/11 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya. Great! She should take responsibility. It's her job description to advise the President on matters relating to U.S. foreign policy.

Hillary Clinton's war on Libya
Some might argue though that while the premise for her admission is correct, it is flawed. Hillary Clinton is responsible, but it wasn't for the lack of security at the Embassy. Clinton reportedly persuaded Barack Obama to "take a hard line with Libya – New York Times speak for engage in a aerial (and stealth) war on Libya. The end game was regime change. This was evident from the way chief diplomat Clinton celebrated the death of Muammar Gaddafi on CBSNews (VIDEO).

Of course, the term "war" is still used by U.S. institutions (oops) and U.S. media (here, here, and here) to describe U.S. actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, since it's generally agreed that when one country drops bombs on another country – they've committed an act of war. However, the United States hasn't officially declared war on a country since World War II.

Long gone are the "halcyon days" when American presidents sought war authorizations from a marginalized institution supposedly representing the people called a Congress and bombs were dropped from piloted planes on military targets. Drones and mercenaries – un-piloted planes and private military companies do the dirty work of targeting "terrorists" -- should a civilian, or two or three... get in the way - that's got a term too: collateral damage.

One exception to the illiberal use of the term war is: the "Global War on Terror" declared by George W. Bush in 2001. It's ON! Although, constitutional law scholar, Obama, has overhauled the name. The new and approved Orwellian term is: "Overseas Contingency Operation."

There are some one half of one percent of the American population still charged with giving their lives for the "cause," but sadly, in America, even the job of killing continues to be outsourced. As if outsourcing the business of organized violence in a country which MLK called the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today isn't bad enough; prison "slave" labor costing only 23 cents an hour means longer unemployment lines.

The new American dream, dedicate to your work, labor long hard hours, get downsized anyway, only to have your job outsourced, lose your benefits, lose your home, lose your sobriety, hold up a bank to feed your drug habit, get caught and jailed -- achieve full employment, and benefits too!

On the existential bright side; see, anti-war activists who protested the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan... the United States was listening when you chanted: "NO MORE WAR!"

One could be lured into believing that this fail on Libya, along side her history of lying (to bolster her foreign policy credentials), and the fact that the U.S. has continued the same hegemonic, warmongering, murderous mindset under Clinton's stewardship at the State Department, would effectively come back to bite Hillary Clinton on her pantsuited chubby backside. But one would most likely be delusional; because as Solomon Comissiong writes in his piece: When Will Radical Become the Norm: “Americans eat whatever psychological poison is fed to them by the corporate media and government.”

Evidently, if the U.S. media concludes that an evil and corrupt politician has redeemed themselves -- usually by taking a prescribed "time out" of the spotlight, then they're good to endorse their wife's run for public office or headline the DNC. The U.S. was always corrupt, but more and more they resemble the "banana republics" they've usually had a hand in engineering. It's only a matter of time before it all unravels, right? Hasn't the U.S. operated enough government destabilizing campaigns in "overseas contingency operations" to recognize the signs of approaching chaos?

U.S. media pundits posit that Americans don't care about U.S. foreign policy during election cycles. Hopefully, that statement is a dismal lie floated by embedded propagandist. Americans should consider the merits of a presidential candidate based on how well that person performed in their high-profile government job as the U.S. administrator in charge of foreign policy.

Of course, that assumes that the people's voices counts at the polls. Even the once esteemed Chief Executive's office is seen by many Americans as ceremonial – largely reserved for approved members of the 1% of the aristocratic plutocrats.

The U.S. needs a revolution to replace these selected psychopaths.

"I take responsibility, Clinton told CNN in an interview while on a visit to Peru. "I'm in charge of the State Department's 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn't be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They're the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision."

Until the revolution, Hilary Clinton fading into obscurity would be a good step toward global security.

Why This Black Man Is Watching the Debates, and Voting Green

Originally published at Black Agenda Report | Wed, 10/03/2012 - 15:14 — Bruce A. Dixon

I'll be watching the debates. Not on CNN or ABC, but online at Occupy the Debates or at Democracy Now or Free Speech TV, where the third party candidates and others have a chance to answer questions and comment in real time.

Why This Black Man Is Watching the Debates, and Voting Green

by BAR managing editor Bruce A. Dixon

I can't say I'm not mad at anybody. If being ripped off and lied to, and having murders committed in your name around the world don't make you mad, there's something wrong with you, and whatever is wrong with me, it's not that. I'll be watching tonight's presidential debates, but like most people, I already know what I'll do on November 6.

I won't vote Republican, because among other things, the GOP is the permanent party of white supremacy. Republicans are also the permanent party of Wall Street, the party of Big Agriculture, the party of Big Insurance, Big Oil, Big Real Estate, Big Pharma, of more nukes Republicans are the party of privatizers, jailers, charter schools and military contractors. Republicans started the 40 years war on drugs, and of course they remain the party of Empire and Permanent War. Republicans hate brown people and threaten to jail and deport as many as they possibly can.>

Democrats are the party of more privatizations --- Corey Booker is trying to privatize the water in Newark New Jersey for instance.

Democrats on the other hand, are the permanent party of Wall Street. Democrats are the party of Big Agriculture, Big Insurance, Big Oil, Big Real Estate, Big Pharma and more nukes, more jails and continuing the 40 years war on drugs. Democrats are the party of more privatizations --- Corey Booker is trying to privatize the water in Newark New Jersey for instance.

Democrats are the party of military contractors and charter schools as well. When Obama Secretary of Education Arne Duncan ran the school system in Chicago he gave several high schools and even a middle school to the US military to run as their own charter schools. Obama's Race To The Top program bludgeons school districts around the country into closing public schools, firing teachers and replacing them with charters, and is lauded by Democrat big city mayors in places like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Unlike Republicans, Democrats often say they like brown people, and they get the lion's share of the Latino vote. But President Obama's words don't match his actions. Obama has deported more brown people in 3 years than the last three Republicans put together.

On the good side, this Democratic president, and many other Democrats even support gay marriage and the right to access birth control and abortions. And although Democratic congressional leaders, when they controlled the House during and after Katrina, refused to hold hearings on the disaster because they were afraid of looking too pro-black, Democrats are emphatically NOT the party of white supremacy. In fact all the black elected officials elected with majorities of actual black votes are Democrats.

So there are differences. But down here on the ground where people actually live, those differences don't amount to much. Both are war parties, parties of the rich, parties that want to privatize roads, water, public schools (that's what charters are about --- privatization!) parties that will continue the war on drugs and policies that feed our American prison state.

Exchanging a few white faces in city halls, legislatures and the White House for black and brown ones isn't really such a big deal.

I grew up believing my vote meant something, that it was my voice. The people I called my teachers taught me to raise my voice against unjust wars and economic oppression, the same way I'd raise it against racism. Exchanging a few white faces in city halls, legislatures and the White House for black and brown ones isn't really such a big deal.

What passes for black political power nowadays isn't such a big deal to me because poverty rates are as high now as when a bygone Democratic president declared a war on poverty --- a project that failed because he spent all the money in a colonial war that killed millions in Vietnam, and climbing still higher. Prolonging the careers of black Democrats like Atlanta's Kasim Reed, Newark's Corey Booker, Philly's Mike Nutter or even of congressmen John Lewis and Jim Clyburn as they front for gentrifiers, charter schools, and power companies that build new nukes in the middle of poor black towns being poisoned by old ones is just not anything I want to do with my voice.

I can see why all the big preachers want black folks to vote Democratic. Most of them are part of, or aspiring parts of the black political class, the black misleadership class themselves. Many depend on so-called “faith based” funding to keep their ministries alive. The black church has been captured, and is a kind of “state religion” of the black political class, divorced from the lives of the class of black people who provide over 40% of the nation's prisoners.

I'm an old guy now, past sixty but not yet senior enough for Medicare, and I've been in the movement a long time. Younger people sometimes ask me what to do. After telling them not to respect their elders all that much --- we didn't respect them that much 45 years ago either --- the main thing I tell them is that movement leaders and participants back in the day had visions and horizons longer than the next election cycle or the one after that. They were prepared to fight whether they had allies in city hall, the legislature or the courts or not. Unlike today's NAACP and NAN, they developed agendas without the guidance of corporate funders and their recommended professionals.

We've proved we can elect as many Democrats as we want, all the way up the food chain without changing much here at the bottom.

We've proved we can elect as many Democrats as we want, all the way up the food chain without changing much here at the bottom. I know this well. I gave more than 20 years of my own life to electing better Democrats, helping Democrats run better campaigns, and registering more Democrat voters. I met Barack Obama 20 years ago on one of those gigs in Project VOTE Illinois, where he was state director and I was one of three field organizers who signed up 130,000 new voters and flogged them out to the polls that year. We elected Harold Washington, and a lot of state legislators and a few Congressional reps. The Democratic party will still let you work for it, but once in office, big money calls the shots. It's time to leave that house and build a new one.

It's an uncomfortable truth: the present US political system is largely people-proof and democracy-proof. The time and treasure we've sunk into supporting Democrats the last seventy years is gone. It's a horse we raised and watered and fed that somebody else has ridden off and it won't be back.

I still believe my voice and my vote mean something. Kwame Toure used to say the thing to do is find an organization you're in substantial agreement with and join it, or if it does not exist, start one and recruit your neighbors.

So I've joined the Georgia Green Party, and I'm recruiting those of my neighbors who still believes that unemployment and mass incarceration have to be addressed, that illegal wars and deportations must be stopped, that Wall Street must be reined in, and that gentrification and privatization have to be stopped. Most voters who call themselves Democrats, in fact millions of those voting for President Obama believe exactly these things already, but are substantially disinformed about what their elected officials actually DO.

The bad news... [Al] Sharpton took a half million dollar bribe years ago [..] and the [Obama] administration is actually the enemy on this one.

I was at a demonstration in support of Chicago teachers Saturday, and some participants seemed to assume that the president was on their side, that maybe they could enlist figures like Rev. Al Sharpton to aid their struggle to mobilize people against the inroads of school privatizaters. It fell to me to tell them the bad news --- that Sharpton took a half million dollar bribe years ago to jump on the charter school bandwagon, that he toured the country with Newt Gingrich and Arne Duncan beating the bushes for high stakes testing and charters, and the administration is actually the enemy on this one.

Eventually they and many like them, if they want a party that stands up for what they believe, will have to become Greens. It's my job to make sure that happens.

So I'll watch the debates, sure. The crooks who run them won't let Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate on the same stage with the corporate candidates. So I'll watch Democracy Now's coverage, in which Jill Stein and another candidate in real time answer the same questions as they do. My colleague Glen Ford will be a guest at Occupy The Debates in Baltimore as well.

So yes, I'll watch. And I'll vote. But not for a Republican and not for a Democrat, not again. I'll vote like my voice means something. I won't be coerced into voting for a 100% evil Democrat just because the Republicans are 120% evil. I'm voting Green this year, and helping build a Green Party, right here in Georgia where I live.
